Twenty-one million, eight-seven thousand, eighty-one minutes
Twenty-one million, eight-seven thousand, eighty-one moments so dear
Twenty-one million, eight-seven thousand, eighty-one minutes
How do you measure, measure 40 years?
In countries visited,
In midnights and train rides
In miles, in new friends
In laughter, in adventure
Twenty-one million, eight-seven thousand, eighty-one minutes
How do you measure 40 years?
I'm solidly in my 40s now and staunchly refuse to give into the fear of middle age, determined to face these next phases in life with bravery and courage and passion. I am carving out pieces of my story here.
The basics about me: I am divorced and after having called home Columbus, Ohio; parts of eastern and western Michigan; Kansas City, Mo.; Brooklyn, New York; and Oslo, Norway; I currently live in Florida. I am deeply in love with my nieces and nephews and filled with unending gratitude to the friends who have come along this journey with me.
I hope that by sharing these experiences, maybe you'll find little ways to be brave in your own life.
And some come to a place of reckoning
Try to fix what they find
I arrived with the questions still beckoning
In the back of my mind
- Mary Chapin Carpenter
